There is always something going on in this inspiring beautiful environment and a wonderfully diverse group of people to share it with.

I came to Castle Hill as an artist-in-residence in the fall of 2021. Though I've been aware of this organization for many years and have been to numerous public events, I had never before been on the inside of the experience as an creative person. What is so remarkable is the force of vision, the laser focus and the preparation to nurture artists is very much apparent. I was made to feel welcome and my fourth dimension and work were respected even as the campus was undergoing major construction. I was given every opportunity to do my work in tranquillity (and meet my deadlines!) even as at that place was much going on. Also a major plus is the quality, integrity and devotion of the other artists I met during my stay. I credit the director and the staff for their sincere ability to create a truly wonderful arts organization. I highly recommend information technology.

Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, specifically their residency plan at Edgewood Subcontract, offered me a way to delve completely into my procedure, while being supported by the amazing staff and infrastructure on site. The accomodations and kitchen spaces provide aplenty area and comfort in a rural setting with a community garden, wonderful grounds, admission to hiking and biking routes, and incredible studio spaces. It all feels relatively luxurious in proximity to the National Seashore--Cape Cod beaches and trail systems.
The printmaking studio has enough surface space and wall infinite to layout or hang an incredible amount of work, which provided me the infinite to look at much of the piece of work I had been making and putting in a drawer in my home studio. I received directly feedback on my work from several artists hither, in addition I was able to present some of my past projects and piece of work I completed during my residency during a gallery talk and pop-up evidence that was advertised in local outlets.
I was also fortunate to be able to extend my stay, to take advantage of the peak productivity I experienced during my residency in this wonderfully supportive community.
Truro Center for the Arts has e'er been very important to me. Since the early 1970's I've taken numerous memorable workshops such as painting with egg tempera.mitt building with clay, Japanese wood cake printing to proper noun a few. I've as well been an teacher, pedagogy figure modeling. Now in retirement I'm a beginning student in one case once again taking workshops in ceramics. By standing to offer opportunities for personal growth, life long learning has changed lives over fourth dimension and engaged a broad community throughout each year.

I have seen start hand the transformative power of Castle Hill from three unlike perspectives. Offset, thank you to one of the center's many gifted teachers, I had my offset experience with pottery. I was never very good at information technology, of course, but that was abreast the point. The class gave me a first hand experience of the delight and rigor of the procedure — and the feel is what Castle Colina is about, not the concluding product. Second, I served two terms equally president of the board, and got a chance to work with a total range of artists, students, and fans on a wide multifariousness of issues — and to run across how well a skillful board can assistance a great arrangement become even better. And finally, as Chair of the Truro board of Selectman for several years, I saw how Castle Hill worked to improve the do good it provided to the whole town: such programs as low cost classes for seniors, and artists in the schools, forth with the pregnant financial and cultural growth the centre brings to our pocket-sized town. An extraordinary place filled with creative people imaging new ways to improve the town. Castle Hill as been at the middle of my life for the last twenty years, a source of delight, claiming, and community.

Before my residency at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, I was noticing a dark downturn in the bailiwick affair of my work. The pandemic had left me hopeless and feeling naked to the dangers of the globe. Upon arrival, I immediately felt prophylactic and drew on the ability of the ocean and the gentleness of nature to remind me that being human is almost family unit, community, and togetherness. I have been working these themes into my art, equally I experience a profound sense of community here and have made so many wonderful friends.
Surrounded by a community of likeminded people, I was able to flourish and become inspired anew. The grounds, mural, and communal studios are a nurturing surroundings full of helpful, encouraging voices. The atmosphere of friendliness and having an onsite manager at that place almost daily was super helpful to leaving nothing undone in terms of rubber and cleanliness during this time of Covi-19.
In addition, the setting is inspiring as it is 5mins by car from both the body of water beach and the bay of the Atlantic (stunning views)..
I will hopefully be able to do some other residency in the coming years. Thank you Castle Loma for a tremendous experience.

The staff are very welcoming and circumspect to the needs of each resident. Ever respecting our space and time, they fostered a culture of support and enthusiasm without sentence or expectation.
As a plein air painter, I well-nigh appreciated being able to paint the uncomplicated beauty of the surrounding landscape without interruption. The unique history of the property was a reservoir for inspiration, and the residency's strong emphasis on ecology conservation offered countless opportunities to feel nature's therapeutic qualities. The considerate stewardship of the land fix a perfect example for how each artist might care for themselves and their artwork.
This sentiment is conspicuously reflected in the surrounding community. The residency is a beloved local resource, evidenced by its ongoing public programming, workshops, and exhibitions. To be involved in a place so respected by the community made me experience similar a role of something larger, and it helped situate my artwork in a meaningful context.

Truro Heart for the Arts is an absolute gem... they are an inspiration to the arts community in general on the outer Cape, providing a safe venue for pursuing artistic expression under the guidance of their regular (wonderful) staff, besides as drib in instructors who conduct periodic workshops. Besides the structured events, for their ceramics studio, they offer a program whereby for a very reasonable fee structure, one can employ the facility, equipment and supplies, and have the staff burn down your ware. In this way, they achieve out into the greater customs and serve those that cannot afford to maintain a full studio themselves. I have participated on calendar week-long intensives at the ceramics studio, the drop-in/fee-based program, and accept recently been accepted into the senior program, in which the Center brings in a select number of retired individuals to take classes for no fee. I cannot imagine the Arts scene on the outer Cape without the Centre as a hub!

Last summer, I attended a fantastic writing seminar with Ann Hood at Castle Colina. Not only was the seminar itself creatively challenging and fulfilling (despite my one hour drive each fashion and a terrible summer cold) the space itself is welcoming and inspiring. The staff too were friendly and helpful. I've created some of my (I remember!) best work since my fourth dimension at Castle Hill. That can't be a coincidence.

I this past summer was the first time I took a class at Castle Colina. The facility the teacher it was wonderful. I'grand looking forward to taking classes in that location next summertime. I give it a v star rating.

I have had the pleasure both teaching at Castle Colina and participating in several workshops. My didactics experience was terrific! Neat support from the staff, a great studio, and really wonderful students. The workshop I participate in was taught by the renowned artist Judy Pfaff and I enjoyed it so much the outset fourth dimension I returned twice more when Judy taught the class again.
The new facility at Edgewood Farm is a not bad addition to the Castle Hill campus, and I enjoyed existence housed at that place as a faculty member. For a minor system they bring in terrific artists to atomic number 82 classes and they take their mission seriously.
The outer greatcoat is really lucky to accept Castle Hill serve information technology'southward community.

I have been associated with Castle Colina since its' founding in 1972. I have seen this arts organization abound and flourish, initially from a small-scale summer fine art middle, to a year-round culteral center on the Outer Cape that draws students and faculty across the U.s.a. to participate and experience it's wide and supportive arts programs. Programs that include all-encompassing and intensive workshops in diverse arts fields, lectures, and a new residency program.
As a current board member I recently reviewed the summer 2018 Student Workshop Survey. When asked, "Would you recommend this workshop to others?" 226 (out of 235) students answered yes, or 96.1%, and when asked about, "the quality of instructors," 98% responded splendid.

I was at Edgewood Farms of Castle Hill this late August early September. I accept known Castle Colina and attended off and on for probably over 20 years. The landscape of EF was beautiful. Even at 2am by flashlight. The studio despite the rut was a perfect place to create, call up and make things. I loved my bedroom and our communal kitchen. Just most of all the staff, Kate, Miles and EJ fabricated everything menstruation behind the scenes with ease ( Probably Cheri likewise). I came to kicking myself out of a creative slump and came back on burn. Castle Hill is a special identify that supports the creative manus and spirit.

I was one of the artists accepted in the 2nd yr of an artist residency plan. This program is only a few years quondam and since information technology was Bound, everything was awakening; renovations, gardens and new class preparations. The managing director and staff were still tweaking the program and making improvements. Understandably nosotros did not have the perfect situation residency programs tin can offer after 25 or more years of feel. We four artists had hoped for more of us in residence. However the upside is were all uniform and became friends. My studio mate was very knowledgeable and guided me through the press functioning and offered technical advice and artistic suggestions about printmaking. The housing situation was in flux and I stayed by myself, (in a cute space!) for a calendar week, while other artists were housed in an side by side building. One of the all-time means to exchange data is with other artists over dinner or coffee. Spring was cold and wet and traipsing back and forth with dinner betwixt buildings was not ever feasible. Artists are creative so nosotros found a fashion to melt together, and or share a glass of wine/coffee/tea/or lunch. In spite of as well many meetings in the short two weeks, the residency was wonderful. It was a challenge to keep my eye on creativity instead of production when expected to be part of a studio open house.
My request to be in a studio with a press was granted and it was more than incredible than I could have imagined. The landscape is beautiful and I pigment onsite and in the studio. I could go upward early to see the sunday come up up over the body of water and paint on a big canvas, come up dorsum to the studio and experiment with printmaking. I could piece of work between the prints, the studio paintings and the work begun outdoors. The studios could be opened with your key at any hour for long work days. That creative fourth dimension let me dream and planted seeds for a new visual linguistic communication and the freedom with pigment I am still experimenting with in my home studio. I am very grateful for the time I spent at Truro. Although we've all spun back into our own worlds, I cherish the friendships made with the other artists and hope to see these talented women again. I am thankful to the director, Cherie, and her wonderful, immature and energetic staff.

I spent a wonderful 7 weeks in April/May 2018 at Edgewood Farm, Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill as an creative person in residence. Not only did I have space and time to paint and contemplate just I as well was able to pursue my ongoing printmaking explorations. The opportunity to flow between those two disciplines allowed me to carry ideas and techniques betwixt the two with an immediacy that I had not been able experienced earlier. Additionally, the other artists in residency while there, and the stellar staff and friends of Castle Hill, created a supportive and inspiring community. I hope to return in the non too distant future!

I have lived in Truro for over 30 years and have raised 3 kids in the school system. Truro Middle for the Arts initiated community programs that brought all 3 of my children to the center to participate in fine art programs over the years and I myself took classes for seniors multiple times. I am an active painter in my retirement with the urging and training I received from them. Lately I have taken a class every summertime taught at very loftier levels. They are well loved in the customs.

I took Tom O'Connell'south mixed media class this summertime. Information technology was really fun. We used largely recycled materials from the local town dump to create molds that nosotros busy and shaped in various ways before pouring in the physical. Hither is my butterfly unmolded, isn't it pretty? And y'all can also see what a beautiful solar day it was, sunny. I still need to scrape out the pink insulation on the other side, And the cement effectually the edges is crude. You need to put a bead of silicon caulk effectually the interior of the mold earlier you cascade in the cement. This makes the edges overnice. If the edges plough out rough then you can shine them down with a diamond file, carefully. I am looking forward to taking another form at the Truro Centre for the Arts next summer.

I've taken many classes at Castle Hill over the past several years. I approached the Middle initially with very little sense of my creative abilities or aesthetic sensibilities. I only knew I wanted to create. I had to screw upwardly my backbone the first few classes; ultimately plunging in feet commencement has had an enormously positive impact on my life. I've learned so much, especially that I have a creative impulse. Over the past several years I've observed CH abound and ameliorate and expand its achieve and scope. It'southward contribution to the community and to me personally are inestimable and I'chiliad very grateful. I recommend information technology unreservedly.

I took an intro pottery class this summer and had no experience on the cycle. It was and so much fun and I made 3 bowls. I'thou hoping that they will accept a week long course this twelvemonth for the novice. I will definitely be taking it!
Painting with Chris Volpe at Truro Center for the Arts was a sublime experience. The range of venues is astonishing: salt marshes, the sea at dusk, woods and scenic views - and a sunny studio. We painted beach houses perched on the dunes and went into P-town for oysters and art at the museums and galleries. Nosotros enjoyed a potluck dejeuner with other artists at the Center and visited the print makers in their studio side by side door. Great ambiance, warm hospitality, and nature's beauty everywhere. See you next summertime!

I took an artist led workshop in oil painting this summer from Peter Chapus at Castle Loma that was one of the best oil painting classes I've taken. The teacher was very organized, knowledgeable, supportive and patient. He demonstrated the techniques that he uses to create his own paintings, and helped each of us with our private painting challenges.
I as well appreciated the support staff who were both helpful and welcoming and the comfortable atmosphere of the studio..

First experience taking a costless class for seniors that had a lottery to bring together. The grade is very professionally taught with respect for time for working and creating. This expands my knowledge for following my art career after retiring with the interaction of a great group of artists, some beginners to the detail course I'thou in. Squeamish infinite and available materials to use or buy with existent hands on experience to figure out what is the all-time for my direction and inspiration. Peculiarly nice that they support people who alive here yr round and are on a upkeep.

I took a week-long writing form- not-fiction personal essay.. Judy Huge the teacher was prepared, very helpful and inspiring. She gave me dandy comments and communication.I am new in this field and when we started she asked us what we wanted to get out of the week. I mentioned I needed to larn how to respond to and utilize criticism to improve. She was most helpful in my learning to practise but that.
In that location were several gatherings with others in the school which I enjoyed and the assistants fabricated the process of joining the class very easy....This is a very nurturing environment in which to learn and abound.
